Ikipedia - it’s all about me

Hi! Thanks for coming over to IkiDesigns. My name is Ulrike and I’m the artist behind IkiDesigns.

‘Iki’ was how my little sister called me when we were young, because ‘Ulrike’ was too difficult to pronounce for her. Also ‘Iki’ in Japanese means things like ‘original, stylish, chic, but not too perfect or complicated; spontaneous and carefree.’  Can’t say I am all that, but I definitely LOVE all things Iki!

About me: I have been drawing since I was young, though I always thought I wanted to be a writer. I am self taught, however I love taking courses in drawing – model drawing, animal drawing and so on. Right now I love to learn new skills via Skillshare classes. I collect childrens picture books because some of them are like little museums, full of art and they are a fantastic inspiration.

About my Art: My favorite art materials are colored pencil, gouache, and ink, but I also use digital apps like Procreate and Affinity Designer. I can’t decide, so I keep playing around with everything. Same thing goes for my ‘style’. Since I love many styles – from dreamy fairytale-like colored pencil drawings, to color popping blockprints, graphic design, vector art or paper cut illustrations – I just keep making different things, learning along the way. Creating repeating patterns is something I like very much too.

About my dreams plans: My goal is to have a (one woman) postcard and surface design Imperium! So I sell my art on products in POD webshops: Redbubble, Society6, Teespring and so on. My postcards are available in Kinderboekwinkel De Toverlantaarn in Leeuwarden (the Netherlands).

If you wish to resell my Postcards too, or want to use an IkiDesigns illustration or pattern, please contact me by e-mail:

(Since I’m Dutch, you mag me ook in het Nederlands mailen ;-))
